Dear Members and Friends,

We are pleased that you are planning to attend the 94th Annual Convention at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. If you have not made your room reservation at the hotel, we urge you to do so immediately. We suggest that you read the enclosed material carefully, since it contains important information about your convention arrangements. Spouse/companion packages have been mailed to your home if you provided us with that address. If not, please deliver the information that is enclosed.
On Sunday evening, after a special reception for “first timers”, we will have the President’s Welcome Reception with heavy hors d’oeurves. Dress is resort wear, collared shirts - sport jackets optional. This reception will end at 8:00 pm.
Monday’s Opening Breakfast speaker, Ann Meyers Drysdale is the general manager of the Phoenix Mercury. Prior to that she had a long career in broadcasting and a professional basketball player. She is also the wife of former Dodger great, Don Drysdale and the mother of three teenage children. The State of the Industry Report and Annual Meeting will take place in another room and will close out the morning.
Tuesday and Wednesday morning sessions will explore the change that is taking place in the packaging segment of the market. An outside viewpoint of an industry analyst is joined by the inside perspective of print buyers like Coke, Hershey and Perseco, and printers representing flexible packaging, labels, corrugated, folding cartons and multiwall bags. These sessions will provide a sense of direction for what is driving the product design, printing and converting of packaging. The impact of digital printing will also be assessed by a group of industry experts as they discuss where this technology is likely to prosper.
On Tuesday night the “NAPIM Sports Bar” will be open hosting a “Game Night” of karaoke singing and fun games for all to play. Awards will be presented by the golf and tennis chairpersons and sponsors.
On Wednesday evening, we will hold the annual Black Tie Awards Banquet. Industry leaders will receive the Printing Ink Pioneer Award, and one individual will receive the prestigious Ault Award. Table reservation forms are enclosed and can be returned to the NAPIM office.
If you will not be able to attend one of the dinner events, we would appreciate you letting us know ahead of time (form is enclosed), so that we can adjust our guarantee and not pay for meals we do not need.
We also anticipate strong interest in the other activities described in the enclosed material. If you plan to participate in any of these activities, either the off-site trips or sports activities, please return the activities registration sheet. Hotels are insisting on guarantees, so our ability to adjust at the last minute as we have often done in the past has been reduced.
Looking forward to seeing you in beautiful Arizona!
Cordially,

Rick Clendenning, President
